The subject of this message is “Mastering Your emotions.” in the Old testament, concerning the first born of a man’s sheep, cow or a goat, god said, “thou shalt not redeem. they are holy...” (numbers 18:17)
The root of all evil is not believing what god said. Cain did not respect god, and for a sacrifice he brought his first fruits. Abel instead brought the first born of his flock for a sacrifice, according to God’s word. God respected Abel and his offering, but he did not respect Cain’s. Cain was filled with anger and negative emotions. psalms 37:8 says, “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.” Ephesians 4:26 says, “Be angry and sin not? Let not the sun go down on your wrath.”
In genesis 4:6, “the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? if thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lies at the door...”
Mastering your emotions is by believing in god. Jesus said, “seek ye first the kingdom of god and his righteousness...”, meaning putting god first no matter what. psalm 34:19 – “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” So anger is really a sin. the apostle Paul wrote,” Be ye angry and sin not? it is a question mark. “Let not the sun go down on thy wrath.”
Cain became angry and he could not master his own emotions according to the word of God. Our emotions can be controlled. Unruly emotions lead to many, problems.
