God's Role In America
BY Dr. Elias Malki
The very men who discovered America established it as a Republic under God. I was not born in America and I didn’t go to school here and learn American history. But I have always been concerned about the involvement of America in the affairs of the world. 80% of all the money that has been spent to reach the world with the gospel comes from the United States. That tells me that these early fathers had the Church in the government not the government in the Church.
On November 27, 1492 Christopher Columbus, the Christian mariner who inspired Europe with a vision for the new world, made a statement, “I say in that, your highness ought not consent that any foreigner does business or set foot here other than Christian Catholics. But since this was the end and the beginning of the enterprise, that it should be for the enhancement and the glory of the Christian religion, nor should anyone who is not a good Christian come to these parts.” Many consider this to be the purpose of western civilization.
Historical Quotes from Founding Fathers and Presidents
Our first president George Washington said this, “It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God.”
Thomas Jefferson said, “Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed the only firm bases, a conviction in the minds of the people that their liberties are the gift of God.”
President Abraham Lincoln said, “We have grown in numbers wealth and power as no other nation has grown. But we are forgetting God.”
Here are some quotes from some state constitutions
“The Christian protestant religion shall be deemed and is herby constituted and declared to be the established religion of the state. No person should be eligible to a seat in the Senate unless he be of the Protestant religion.”
South Carolina Constitution
“Everyone appointed to public office must say, ‘I profess faith in the Father, and in Jesus Christ His Son, and in the Holy Ghost one God and blended forever more, and I do acknowledge Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be given by Divine inspiration.’”
Delaware Constitution in 1776
I have always believed that the present Supreme Court had miss interpreted this part of our constitution. Which says their is a separation of state and church not state and religion. Those early fathers where all Christians. But the law was miss interpreted and they allowed other religions to come to this nation. Now the blessings that these early fathers enjoyed from Almighty God are not the same today. We no longer have what they had.
