Food For Thought - October 2009

As I look at the world today, especially America, this great nation that I love and chose to become a citizen of, I cannot help but feel that it needs to heed to the Scripture that says “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34. I wonder how many people in America believe that Scripture. I’m sure the majority does believe it, but at the same time there are those who do not believe in it. Unfortunately, many of those people are in a position of making important laws that affect us one way or another.

If you study the history of America, you will see that the founding fathers did their best to create a Constitution as close as they could to the principles of the Judeo-Christian Bible. The majority of Americans know that, but sometimes it important to voice your opinion. Many born-again Christians do not feel that their voice is important.

I remember the late Dr. D. James Kennedy of Florida. His program still airs on television even though he is with the Lord. He spoke boldly on that subject. We need more people like him to remind us about our heritage so that we might be able to call upon the Lord and believe and trust that He is in full charge of what is happening.

I just prayed with a lady that called me from Algeria. She came to Christ a year ago. She is having a lot of difficulties. She didn’t tell me that but I saw that in the Spirit. The Lord said to tell her this is for her own good to learn His ways. He allowed it to happen to her. As I spoke it, the power of God hit her and she started weeping. I believe what is happening to America now, God has allowed it and its for our good to learn His ways.

So, Christian friend, look up. The Lord will not leave or neglect His own. King Jesus is still in charge. The situation in Israel is on alert more than any other time in history. This is the land that God called, “My land,” and He called Jerusalem, “My city.” So keep your eyes on that part of the world. Whatever happens there, affects the whole world.
