Faith That OVERCOMES

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
I John 5:4

Hallelujah! You and I have overcome our enemy and God’s enemy - THE WORLD. That is why I John 2:15 says, “Love not the world, neither the things in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

How will we overcome? The first step is to be born of God. The second step is to have faith. The third step is to fight the good fight of faith. Every born again man or woman needs to understand that it is the nature in which they were born causes them to love the world. But they can overcome this nature by their faith.

God has given every person faith (Romans 12:3b). The apostle John was stressing OUR faith. We own it. We put our faith in the finished work of Christ. “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (Christ),” II Cor.5:21.
We live in a polluted world with its lusts and temptations. Yet, if anyone yields to temptation, God is just and merciful.

So, brother and sister, rise up. You are a child of God. You have the righteousness of God in you because you believe in the finished work of Christ, and are born of God.
God understands the polluted world that we live in. If any of us yield to temptation, I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” This is a continual cleansing.

So cheer up, my brother and sister. God loves you. Fight the good fight of faith in the finished work of Christ. He accomplished it for you. Let the peace of God reign in your heart.
